The King’s Singers perform with Warwick Schools Foundation

Last week, we were delighted to welcome the internationally acclaimed group, The King’s Singers, to the Foundation, for a special Gala Concert in aid of The Rufus Trust.
During the performance, students from both Warwick School and King’s High School performed alongside the group in a unique performance. Ed Button, who is part of the group and who is an Old Warwickian, visited students in June to lead a choral workshop learning pieces performed on the night. The students then performed the pieces to an audience of over 700 people, an incredible opportunity which amplifies the array of opportunities available for our students within the Foundation. Our King Henry VIII Choral Scholarships programme opens doors to opportunities such as this experience, where students who sing through our partnership with the Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick are encouraged to reach their full potential alongside their peers.

Ed spoke to the Foundation about what it means to him to perform back at Warwick, leading the same ensemble he was once part of. He described his time at the School as “an important time for his development and found his home in the music department.”
The concert raised money for the Rufus Trust, which has recently started a partnership with Evergreen School, part of the Warwick Schools Foundation Multi Academy Trust, to help fund the Evergreen Holiday Club.

The music performed on the night included After the Gold Rush by Neil Young, arranged by Peter Knight, alongside the comedic Short People by Randy Newman, arranged by Simon Carrington, The Beach Boys, arr. Bob Chilcott Kokomo, and many more songs performed with outstanding personality, good humour and echelons of choral talent.
We would like to thank the King’s Singers, and Ed, for giving up their time and providing such a memorable evening for our Foundation and our students.
