Held during the summer holidays, the two-day courses brought together children aged 7-16 from over 30 schools, providing an inspiring opportunity for young instrumentalists to continue developing their musical skills outside of term time. 

Participants rehearsed and performed as part of either the Beginner or Intermediate Orchestra, with experienced music tutors from the Foundation in the outstanding music facilities. The courses culminated in a celebratory performance for family and friends, showcasing the progress made over the two days. 

The event attracted children from schools throughout Warwickshire and the surrounding region, alongside a significant number of pupils from within the Warwick Schools Foundation itself. This strong participation reflects both the Foundation's longstanding commitment to music education and the exceptional opportunities, facilities and expertise available to young musicians across its schools. 

A key aim of the course was to encourage children to continue engaging with music during the summer break. For many young musicians, the holidays can mean several weeks away from regular rehearsals and ensemble playing. The Orchestra Course provided the perfect opportunity to pick up their instrument, build confidence, develop new skills and experience the enjoyment of making music with others. 

Kelly, a parent whose son attended the Beginners course shared; 

"As soon as the course finished, my son asked if he could do it again next summer! He really enjoyed it and we loved listening to the concert on day two". 

Following the success of the inaugural event, plans are already underway for the next Warwick Schools Foundation Orchestra Course, offering even more young musicians the opportunity to experience the excitement and benefits of ensemble music-making.
