On Friday, the King Henry VIII Consort of Warwick Schools Foundation performed a musical item at The Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick, in a concert that also featured TV legend James May.
The concert was one of 15 performances that took place nationally as part of James May and Oz Clarke's Charity Bike Challenge, which also saw the duo ride over 100 miles. In total, their challenge raised over £35,000!
The three-day charity bike challenge aimed to raise money to support Armonico’s vital community outreach work, bringing music and joy to those who need it most – from choirs for children and young people, music programmes for children with Special Educational Needs and community singing groups for people living with dementia and their carers. Or, what James terms 'music therapy'!
It cannot be understated how wonderful an opportunity this way for our choristers — not only did it give them the chance to perform alongside the professional Armonico Consort, but on an individual and collective level, it allowed them to further their performance ability, grow in confidence, and to perform in a beautiful venue in front of a large audience.
Our choristers sang excellently, showcasing their undoubted talent for choral singing, and represented both themselves and our schools exceedingly well. The outstanding nature of their performance is a credit to them and the hard work that they put in both in and out of school, as well as the continued dedication of our staff who support their progression. You can view their performance here — they are featured at around the 8:00 mark.
If you are a talented chorister who would like to access first-class opportunities such as these whilst being afforded a reduction on school fees — usually 20% — find out more and apply here.
