Warwick Schools Foundation can’t wait to welcome talented and aspiring musicians aged 7-16 from across the region to our new Orchestra Course.
Designed for boys and girls who want to take their music‑making to the next level, this exciting summer opportunity offers two tailored streams for beginners and intermediate instrumentalists.
During the course, young musicians will:
- Develop a host of new skills
- Learn from a range of expert staff
- Gain new techniques to further their playing
- Grow in confidence as they perform in a pupil-led concert at the end of the course.
All this takes place in a friendly, supportive environment where pupils will make like-minded new friends and can enjoy making music in the Foundation’s first-class facilities.

- £99 (including VAT) per pupil, with a hot lunch included on both days.

What is the Orchestra Course all about?
The course is about helping young musicians to grow, collaborate, and have fun! Participants have the enriching opportunity to make music together, try new styles, and build confidence in a supportive environment.
Who can join?
Our Orchestra Course is for young musicians who are excited to learn, perform, and make new friends.
Our beginners course is open to students aged 7-12 years old who already play an instrument at Grades 0-3, whilst our intermediate course is open to students aged 8-16 years old who already play an instrument at Grades 4-7.
When and where is it held?
Our beginners course runs over two consecutive days on 28 and 29 July 2026.
Our intermediate course runs over two consecutive days on 30 and 31 July 2026.
Registration for both courses will be held at Warwick Hall.
Does my child need to audition?
No formal audition is required! Just let us know your child’s grade so that we can group students appropriately.
Course activities
What will my child do each day?
Days are full of music! Participants enjoy ensemble rehearsals, sectional coaching, and workshops in improvisation and composition.
Are private lessons available?
Our course focuses on group music-making; private lessons are therefore not available during the course.
What types of music will be covered?
Participants will explore classical, contemporary, and ensemble repertoires — plus fun workshops to inspire creativity.
Instruments & equipment
Should my child bring their own instrument?
Yes! Participants are expected to bring their instrument and all necessary accessories (reeds, strings, rosin, music stand, etc.).
What if my child’s instrument is large, like a cello or drum kit?
Drum kits and percussion will be made available. Just bring your own sticks!
Is there storage for instruments?
No, there is no storage for instruments.
Will sheet music be provided?
Music sheets will be given on the first day. Participants should bring a folder and pencil for notes.
Housekeeping
What time is the Orchestra Course?
The course runs from 9.30 until 4pm daily.
What should my child wear?
Children may wear their own clothes.
What meals are included?
We provide a nutritious two-course hot lunch daily for all participants. Special dietary needs can be accommodated.
Care & wellbeing
How will my child be supervised?
Our experienced staff provide full supervision. All staff are DBS-checked and trained in safeguarding and first aid.
What if my child feels homesick or unwell?
Our pastoral team is here to support all participants and will contact parents if needed.
Is the course inclusive?
Absolutely. We welcome musicians of all abilities and backgrounds. Contact us about any additional needs so that we can support your child.
Will there be a performance at the end?
Yes! Families are invited to our final concert on the second day of the course at 3.45pm, with participants showcasing everything they’ve learned during the course.
Registration & fees
How much does the Course cost?
The course costs £99 inc. VAT.
Fees cover tuition, meals, music materials, and activities per course.
Are sibling discounts available?
We do not offer sibling discounts.
What is the cancellation policy?
More than 4 weeks before the WSF Orchestra Course start date
Full refund of fees paid, minus an administration charge of £25.00 per student.
2–4 weeks before the course start date
50% of the camp fee will be refunded.
Less than 2 weeks before the course start date
No refund will be issued.
Cancellation by WSF Orchestra Course
If the course is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., health and safety), a full refund will be provided. Parents will be notified as soon as possible in such cases.
Substitutions / Transfers
Parents may transfer their child’s place to another child only with prior written approval.
Exceptional Circumstances
If a child cannot attend due to illness or other unforeseen events, we may offer a partial refund or credit at the discretion of the camp management.
How to Cancel
All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to orchestracourse@warwickschools.co.uk or in writing to WSF Orchestra course, Co Events Dept. Warwick Schools Foundation, Warwick CV34 6PP.
The date of receipt of the cancellation request will determine the applicable refund.
Acceptance of Policy
By booking a place on the WSF Orchestra Course, parents / guardians agree to abide by this cancellation policy.
