Rob is a versatile musician, educator and conductor whose career spans classical, folk, reggae, musical theatre and contemporary music. A principal trumpet player, he has performed and recorded with renowned artists including Ex Cathedra, Rachel Tucker, Fairport Convention and Bob Marley's Wailers. He has appeared at many of the UK's leading festivals, including Glastonbury, WOMAD, Latitude, Green Man, Boomtown and Cropredy.

Career highlights include composing and performing with The Destroyers at the opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, performing at iconic venues including Wembley Stadium and Lord's Cricket Ground, and, as an RAF Reserve musician, taking part in the State Funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, as well as ceremonial performances at Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London.

A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Rob studied under leading brass specialists including Percy Pursglove, Kristian Steenstrup, Mike Lovatt, Louis Dowdeswell and Paul Mayes. After overcoming a serious injury in 2018, he rebuilt his technique and returned to performing stronger than ever.

An experienced educator, Rob has taught in schools across the UK, toured with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's LEAP Ensemble, and previously served as Head of Brass and Teacher of Music and Music Technology at Repton School. His students have progressed from beginner to degree level, with several gaining places in the National Children's Orchestra. He is currently Visiting Teacher of Trumpet at Warwick School and Tormead School.

Alongside performing and teaching, Rob has been a musical director and conductor since 2009, working with ensembles including Central England Concert Band and The People's Orchestra. He conducted part of the closing handover ceremony for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and has been Musical Director of Thame Concert Band since 2024.
